Small Towns of Historic Fincastle, Buchanan, Troutville

Botetourt County is made up of miles of scenic hiking trails including the Appalachian Trail, unspoiled rivers and streams, beautiful countryside, and historic small towns, all set against majestic mountain backdrops.

Hay Rock Hiking Trail - Roanoke

Established in 1770, Botetourt (pronounced “Bot – a – tot”) County celebrated its 250th anniversary in 2020. At one point during its long history, Botetourt County included the land that is now West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and part of Illinois and Wisconsin. It’s not quite that large today, but there’s still plenty to discover in this history-filled, mountain playground.
