The s'more is prepared in the wood fired oven and then topped with chocolate sauce. If you're feeling extra fancy, add peanut butter!

2. Mud Pie - Mac and Bob's Restaurant

Mac & Bob's - Mud Pie

The house-made mud pie at Mac and Bob’s Restaurant in Salem combines two of our favorite things - coffee and chocolate! The pie consists of an Oreo cookie crust that’s filled with layers of vanilla and coffee ice cream, which is then topped with a rich, chocolate fudge sauce, chopped walnuts, and whipped cream. 

3. Dark Chocolate Cremeux - The River and Rail

“Cremeux” is the French word for “creamy,” which perfectly describes this chocolate dessert at The River and Rail. It’s an amazing dark chocolate pudding topped with caramel ice cream, cocoa krispies and honey-roasted hazelnuts. C’est bon!

Warm up with a cup of Mexican Hot Chocolate at Tuco’s Taqueria Garaje - a popular new restaurant in Downtown Roanoke. The hot chocolate is made in-house and topped with agave whipped cream & a dusting of cayenne pepper.

The Blue Cow Patty ice cream at this local shop has all your favorite things! It's dark chocolate ice cream with oreos, butterfinger, and chocolate chips! If you're feeling extra #rich, opt for two scoops and combine it with the chocolate brownie ice cream. They should call that the Willy Wonka! 

10. Rolled Ice Cream - Champloo Dessert

Champloo Dessert is bring the innovative concept of hand-crafted rolled ice cream to Virginia’s Blue Ridge with its new shop in Downtown Salem. The base uses milk from Homestead Creamery, a local dairy, and there are a variety of flavors, including Cookies n’ Cream, which is even better when topped with a cookie and chocolate syrup.

11. Budino - Fortunato

Leave room for dessert as part of your Italian feast at Fortunato. Many opt for the cannoli or zeppole, but for those craving chocolate, the budino is a terrific choice. It’s a warm chocolate pudding topped with dulce de leche gelato and polenta granola - the perfect way to end your meal.

You’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time in Pop’s Ice Cream & Soda Bar, a classic shop that features a 1936 Bastian Blessing Soda Fountain. While you can’t go wrong with any of the chocolate options on the menu at Pop’s, we suggest the Rocky Road ice cream sundae. It’s two scoops of Homestead Creamery chocolate ice cream, marshmallow cream, chocolate syrup, and whipped cream topped with Spanish peanuts and a cherry.
